Service News 20.08.2019 | Duravit USA Partners with Studio Robert McKinley For Hamptons Summer Bungalow
"I’ve been a fan of Duravit’s classic modernity for many years and am so honored to have them as a partner,” explains Robert McKinley. “Their quality is recognizable at first glance. They perfectly marry design and function - you couldn’t ask for a better product."
Created with the same sense of approachable luxury and a clean, modern aesthetic, McKinley drew inspiration from Montauk’s coastline, paired with the casual elegance of Europe’s seaside towns. Originally built in 1971, the 2,400-square foot raised ranch-style house maintains select original details while receiving a modern update.
For the bathrooms, McKinley selected a range of Duravit’s most classic collections from top design partners. Happy D.2 toilets add a unifying look to each bathroom, but in McKinley’s signature creative, curatorial style, he mixed in other washbasins such as the geometric Vero and round Starck 2.
Adds Duravit USA President Tim Schroeder, “We’re proud to partner with the fantastic Studio Robert McKinley team on this latest project. The bungalow embodies accessible elegance, which is exactly what Duravit stands for. We’re thrilled to see a designer of Robert’s caliber using Duravit in such fantastic ways and look forward to playing a part in the home as it becomes a true destination in Montauk.”
Duravit values its wholesale partners and is proud to collaborate with Green Art Plumbing Supply on the McKinley Bungalow. As a leading kitchen and bath supplier in the Hamptons, Green Art provided distribution and logistics support to complete this project.
More about Duravit’s collections in the McKinley Bungalow:
Vero: Vero has been a Duravit bestseller for more than a decade. Its crisp, geometric form anchors the bath space with a generously proportioned washbasin interior, even in its smaller sizes. Vero also beautifully pairs with furniture or a minimal metal console for a lighter look.
Happy D.2: In Happy D.2, Duravit has softened the signature “D” shaped ceramics originally envisioned by sieger design. The floor-standing toilets and bidets, as well as the wall-mounted models, have gently domed SoftClose toilet lids with a sleek, flat appearance. In addition to glossy white, Happy D.2 toilets and bidets are now also available in Anthracite Matt, an on-trend dark cement color.
D-Code: The D-Code collection represents Duravit’s instantly recognizable, modern aesthetic in a range of sizes and price points for any bathroom space. D-Code offers four bathtubs with backrest (59" x 29 1/2", 63" x 27 1/2", 66 7/8" x 29 1/2" and 70 7/8" x 31 1/2") and the choice between the classic variant with outlet in the foot area and a variant with a central drain.
Starck 2: This Philippe Starck-designed washbasin appears circular at first glance, however, on closer inspection, is a subtle oval. This minimal nuance gives the form an organic, flowing character in Starck’s simple yet ingenious aesthetic.
