A curated residence in Montauk, New York, this McKinley Bungalow project follows the successful completion of neighboring bungalows designed by Studio Robert McKinley, ‘Fairview’ and ‘Federal.’ These bespoke seaside escapes are rentable and shoppable experiential destinations for relaxation, rejuvenation and retreat. In this third chapter of partnership, Duravit outfitted the three ‘Etna’ bathrooms.
“It is always a pleasure to work with Robert McKinley and his team,” comments Tim Schroeder, President of Duravit North America. “Robert’s use of Duravit products across the ‘Etna’ bathrooms, coupled with his design sensibility, afford spaces that exude relaxation and a sense of calm. As a very personal space, Robert aptly marries design and function in each bathroom to make it an important piece of the total Bungalow composition and feel of the residence.”
The 1,490 square-foot property is thoughtfully outfitted across its interior and exterior spaces to create an experience for all guests that is ideal for relaxation. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom bungalow features earth tones and sun-bleached blues to create a raw, natural and casual aesthetic. While the McKinley Bungalow ‘Etna’ evokes an ethos of relaxation, the home displays layers of personality. McKinley says, “2020 has reinforced the importance of loved ones and those closest to us. We wanted to build a space where people can escape and be together.”
Utilizing ceramic fixtures from Duravit’s Happy D.2, DuraSquare, Architec, P3 Comforts and D-Code series, McKinley created the three bathroom spaces in a clean and effortless design that mixes soft elegant curves, strong architectural lines and the beauty of white ceramic. Commenting on the bathroom designs, Robert McKinley explains, “Duravit perfectly marries design and function...we see bathrooms as the cornerstone for any residential project - they are the rooms in the house that are always remembered.”
Duravit’s preferred kitchen and bath supplier in the Hamptons, Green Art Plumbing, provided distribution and logistics support to complete this project.
