Unique luxury in the heart of the Swiss Alps: The Chedi opened its doors in December 2013 and is the first resort owned by General Hotel Management Ltd. in the German-speaking world.
Located in Andermatt, it offers 64 apartments, six maisonette penthouses, 49 residences with seven lofts and 50 hotel rooms for avid skiers, mountain climbers and those in search of relaxation.
The resort’s design combines alpine chic with Asian elements and bears the signature of Jean-Michel Gathy, architect at Denniston International Architects and Planners based in Kuala Lumpur. The bathrooms of the spa area are fitted with Starck 2 toilets and Starck urinals featuring the unique Duravit design.
The opening of The Chedi is the first step in the transformation of Andermatt. The Egyptian investor Samih Sawiris wants to restyle this Swiss village to create an exclusive holiday resort. The project encompasses not only the modernisation and expansion of the ski region but also the construction of about 500 apartments and 25 villas. There are also plans to build six further hotels.
