Crosby Street Hotel
A hotel chain with firm principles: the six hotels of the Firmdale Group in London are amongst the world's most prestigious. All hotels are based on the sustainable philosophy of its owners, Tim and Kit Kemp, who create and furnish their hotels themselves. The Crosby Street Hotel opened in 2009 and is the Firmdale Group's first hotel in New York. It thrives on contradictions: cool, New York downtown asphalt meets the warm, inviting atmosphere of the cosy hotel lobby. The eleven-storey building was built on a former car park in the centre of the SoHo district and has 86 rooms, all of which are furnished in Kit Kemp’s unique personal style. The bathrooms are impressive on the strength of their classical chic, dark tiles and feminine Happy D. toilets. In addition to a green oasis in the courtyard, the hotel offers a private screening room with 99 seats and an individual selection of films. The hotel combines comfortable luxury with ecological concepts and strategies. The Crosby Street Hotel was awarded the LEED ® Gold certification for a variety of sustainable solutions, including the use of green and renewable energy, the recycling of construction and demolition waste and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions thanks to efficient ventilation.
