Heavenly blue skies, fine sand and warm light: Casa de La Flora is located in a place where the sun, beach and sea appear to be as one. The 36 cubic villas that make up this pristine resort blend in seamlessly with their natural surroundings, offering paradisical luxury on the coast of Thailand.
The sun and the sea are the only neighbours. The hotel resort is located in Khao Lak, Thailand's most famous holiday region. Casa de La Flora, the “house of plants”, is one of Thailand's designer hotels, and this year it was awarded the “Travellers' Choice 2013” distinction. VaSLab Architecture of Bangkok created this resort located right on the palm-lined beach at Phangnga, enriching the area's traditional architecture with a versatile modern hotel. Even the view through the bedrooms' glazed front offers an ideal frame for a calming sea view.
All of the buildings boast their own private swimming pool. The luxurious components of the cubic villas' interior design have been carefully selected, something that is underscored by the presence of tailor-made furniture from Anon Pairot Design. The atmospheric lighting showcases the organic forms of the furniture, which reflect the hotel's overarching theme: “Flora”. The furnishings are topped off by true design objects in the bathroom: Duravit products from the Starck 2 and Starck 3 ranges designed by Philippe Starck and 2nd floor from Sieger Design engender a stylish ambience of wellness.
The villas have been constructed from cool concrete, creating a stylish contrast to the natural wooden floors and ceilings with which the interiors are furnished. Even the roofs of these stone buildings are covered in a living grass carpet, for the architects wanted to pay tribute to “Flora”: nature is everywhere, and it will always find a way – humankind are its guests and enjoy its fruits.
